Who is your photographer?
My name is Hannah Moore (she/her). I live in SW Portland with my partner and two kids. I've been photographing children (and families) since 2009, and it is both my mission and one of my greatest joys to get your kiddos to crack real smiles!
When I'm not behind my camera, you can find me at the coast with my feet in the sand, in the garden with my family, out on my paddleboard with my partner, writing, at the climbing gym, or talking to my houseplants.
Picture Day
What should my child wear on picture day?
Layers and textures are great! Avoid bright red, hot pink, anything neon (which all leave color casts on skin), large characters or writing (which take attention away from the child). Otherwise, whatever feels comfortable for your kiddo is great! In the Fall, when the backdrop is all black, I suggest you avoid dressing them in all black. Photos are almost always waist up, so save your battles on pants and shoes. :)
Do I need to pre-pay for photos? I did not receive a photo packet or pricelist.
I don't believe in paying for something you don't love! You will be able to choose your photos and packages after picture day when you receive a personal gallery in your email inbox.
What will the photos look like? What is the background?
I aim for real expressions and never ask them to say "cheese" or smile!
In the Fall I shoot against a solid black backdrop for timeless fine art portraits.
In the Spring, the location varies by school, but can include anything from foliage to brick walls to open fields. It depends on where the light is working best and what options are available at your school.
My child doesn't typically do well for photos because... How will you work with them?
I prioritize meeting each child where they are at and making them feel as comfortable as possible. I will never ever make a child do something they don't want to do, or ask them to look at me and smile. The way I schedule schools allows me to spend a couple of minutes with each child, talking and being silly with them. My only goal is real expressions and a happy photo day experience. I have a background in early childhood development and use that knowledge every day! If your child has a unique need, a heads up from you or your child's teacher on or before picture day is always appreciated, but not necessary.
My child missed picture day. Can I still get their photos taken?
Yes!
Depending on the size of your school and how many children were out on picture day, we may schedule a make up day. You can reach out to me, or to your school to see when your make up day will occur.
If there is no make up day, you are welcome to attend a pop up picture day outside of my home in SW Portland. Reach out to your school for a code to waive the pop up fee. Sign ups, when available, will be located here: https://hannahmoorepdx.pixieset.com/booking/
My child missed picture day. Will they still be included in the class photo?
If your school has opted for composite class photos (most do in the Fall) and your child is photographed either at a make up day, or at a pop up, they will be included in the class photo. To sign up for the pop up, go here: https://hannahmoorepdx.pixieset.com/booking/
Do you do retakes if I don't like my photos?
Not really. Because I offer many poses for each child and do my very best to get natural expressions the first time, I don't usually have time in the schedule for retakes.
Occasionally, if a kiddo is having a particularly rough day (getting sick, overtired, something outside of their usual) I will reach out to you and let you know that I'm happy to do a retake on your school's make up day (if they've scheduled one).

Ordering
When and how will I see my child's photos?
In 1-2 weeks after picture day, you will receive a personal gallery directly in your inbox. I will let the school know when galleries have gone out.
Occasionally, the email address provided by the school is incorrect and you will not see your gallery come through. All galleries from a school come out at the same time (with the exception of make up day students), so if others are talking about theirs and you don't see yours, please reach out to me directly.
What if I didn't get my gallery?
If the school has notified you that galleries have gone out, but you don't see yours, please reach out to me directly.
If it has not been 1-2 weeks since picture day, your gallery is likely not ready yet.
If your child got their picture taken on make up day, your gallery will come through 1-2 weeks after make up day, not the school's original picture day.
How do I order prints/digital images?
Your gallery is your print shop! You can click on any image and it should give you a buy or shopping bag button (depending on your device). You can also click the shopping bag/cart from your home screen and choose "browse products" to see the options. If you are having trouble ordering, feel free to reach out to me directly.
Do I get to choose my photos?
Absolutely! I don't believe in purchasing something you don't love, so all orders take place AFTER picture day. On picture day I do my absolute best to capture a variety of expressions from your child. You will usually have 2-5+ images to choose from plus black and white options.
I see that print packages are for one pose only. What if I want more than one?
To purchase more than one pose, you can choose any print size a la carte, choose more than one package, or opt for the digital image package and print whatever you like from your own lab.
I also offer a 4 image collage that is a great way to show off your child's personality in one 8x8" print.
Can I order digital images only?
You sure can! You can purchase digital images individually, or a package of all of your child's photos. Click on the shopping bag/cart from the home screen of your gallery and scroll to the bottom for digital options.
Is there a class photo?
Each school is different. Typically there is a composite class photo in the Fall available for purchase. Sometimes there is a group photo in the Spring, but not always. Reach out to your school for the more direct answer to this question.
Do you offer additional print sizes/products from what is offered in my gallery?
The short answer is: probably! Reach out to me directly with what you are looking for. Please note that some products may require additional shipping fees.
What do I get if I order a digital image or digital package?
You will receive the digital image download link instantly to the email address you provided when ordering. From there you can download your full resolution image(s) as many times as you like.
Please note that download links expire in 7 days, but please reach out if you miss that deadline and I will send you a new one!
Can I make a horizontal image vertical or vice versa?
The short answer is: maybe. Depending on how the original image was shot, it may be possible for me to adjust your crop. Please reach out to me directly with your child's name and the image number(s) you would like to modify and I will let you know. Please be aware that sometimes the original image does not have wiggle room and no adjustments can be made.
Can I order a digital class photo?
Digital class photos are NOT available. Children's names, photos and the name of the school are all include in the composite digital image so for safety and privacy reasons, I will not release a digital copy.
I see that I can get a free class photo with a minimum purchase. How does that work?
No action required on your part! Just place your order and I will automatically add a class photo with any purchase of $35+
Can I choose my four photos if I order the collage?
Yes! Just favorite your four images in your gallery and I will use them to create your collage.
Please choose all black and white or all color.
If you do not create a favorites list, I will choose your images for you based on what will work best in the square collage format and keeping in mind variety of expressions.
Can I mix and match black and white and color images in my collage?
No. Collages are meant to be all black and white or all color. I promise they look SO much better this way!!
Don't forget to select your four favorites in your gallery.
Can Grandma/auntie/best friend from out of town order too?
They sure can! Send them the gallery link and make sure they choose the "ship to home" option when submitting their order.
I really want to order, but I don't get paid until... Can you extend my deadline?
Absolutely! No problem at all. Just let me know when you'd like me to extend to. If you choose prints, you will need to choose the "ship to home" option and pay for shipping. Digitals are available past the deadline for their regular price with no additional fees.
OH NO! I missed the deadline to order! What do I do?!?!
First, don't panic! Reach out to me directly and I will extend your deadline. You will need to choose the "ship to home" option and pay for shipping if you choose to order prints. Digitals are available at their regular price with no additional fees.
I didn't order and now it is 6 months later and I regret it. Can I still purchase photos of my child?
Probably, yes. Reach out to me. It may take a little time to locate, upload and reactivate your gallery, but chances are I still have the images available for you.
You will need to choose "ship to home" and pay for shipping if you purchase prints.
Delivery
How long after I order will I receive my prints?
Print orders are submitted to the lab the day after your school's ordering deadline. (See your gallery email for deadline information.)
Once they reach me, I will package and deliver as soon as possible. Usually within 2 weeks of your school's deadline (NOT your order date).
How/when do I receive the digital image(s) that I ordered?
Download links are emailed instantly to the address you provide when you purchase. From there, you can download your image(s) as many times as you like. If you do not see yours right away, please reach out to me directly.
Please note that download links expire in 7 days, but if you miss your deadline let me know and I'll send you a new one right away!
Where will prints be delivered?
If you are ordering before the deadline, your prints will be delivered directly to your school.
If you are ordering on an extended deadline, you should have chosen the "ship to home" option and you can expect your prints to arrive to the address your entered when ordering.
I got my order, but the class photo isn't in there! Why?
It is very common that class photos arrive a little bit later than individual orders because we like to include every child in the class. If there is a make up day for your school, or a child who is absent attends one of my pop up portrait sessions, I will hold off on creating the class photo until I can include them. If it seems like others got their class photos and you didn't, please reach out! Otherwise, I promise they're still coming!
Siblings
Do you offer sibling photos?
If your children all attend the same school, I am happy to take a sibling photo on picture day. Because I am usually unaware if students are related, I leave it up to the teachers/staff to coordinate. Please let your teacher or school director know that this is something you would like.
Some schools will opt to add a time to include siblings who do not attend the same school. If this is the case for your school, available time will be listed on your picture day flyer.
What if my kids don't all attend this school, but I would like a sibling photo?
In the Spring, some schools opt to add a sibling option outside of normal picture day hours (but on the same day). If your school has made this choice, times will be listed on your picture day flyer.
It is up to you to bring your child and their sibling(s) on time to sibling photos, as they are first come first served and time is very limited.

Can you combine my kids' photos into one gallery?
Unfortunately, no. Children are all individually entered into my system by classroom and cannot be combined.
What if I want to include both of my kids in a collage?
We can do that! Please include a note in your order and favorite two images of each child in each gallery. You are also welcome to email me.
If you do not favorite your four images, I will choose for you based on what will work best in the square layout, factoring in variety in expressions.
My kids took photos together. Why am I seeing the same sibling photos in both of my children's galleries?
For ease of ordering, I include all sibling photos in both galleries.
If I buy both galleries, aren't I paying double for the sibling photos?
Full galleries are priced the same for every child's individual photos.
When I do a sibling photo for kids who both attend the school, I don't charge anything extra for those as far as the whole digital package. The images are added to both siblings' galleries for easy access, but you are not paying double. The price per gallery would be the same with or without the sibling photos. Basically, sibling photos are a bonus at no additional cost to you if you choose to purchase the full gallery.

Nope! It's just me! Every step of the process is in my hands (so please be patient with me! :)) I've been a photographer since 2009. Preschool photo days make my face hurt from smiling so much!
Do you do family photos? Events? Headshots?
Families? Yes!

Minis (and any promotions) go live to my email list first, and then to social media later. Many times mini sessions sell out before even making it to social media. I only send a couple of emails a year. No spam, I promise!
